The NextGen Education fellowship trains and equips South Africa’s future policy professionals for roles within government and civil society organisations. NextGen is intentional about attracting and retaining talented young people, with an interest in educational policy. The structure consists of academic training, internship and professional development.

We're intentional about attracting and retaining talented young people, with an interest in educational policy
University graduates with an interest in policy research find it difficult to receive the training needed to do their job well. Part of the problem is that organisations are not always equipped or have the time to focus on coaching and guiding newly hired staff. A practical option is for these skills to be taught through a formal process of academic training and mentorship. NextGen provides access to support structures, networks and resources that can strengthen the capacity of individuals to develop and achieve their professional goals
